Set Intentions For Better Health

Set Intentions for Better Health

“What you focus on expands and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more” Oprah Winfrey

In my line of work, ‘chance’ and ‘luck’ don’t just happen. I find that those who are more focused, determined and specific about what they want – on a daily basis, seem to get more of what they want.

But more importantly, they feel whatever they want, before they actually receive it.

So you could translate ‘intention setting’ as a tool to manifest and ease your way to whatever you want to achieve.  It focuses your energy, your mind, your spirit in a way that you can almost taste/feel/see/hear anything you decide to focus on.

These steps will help guide you to focus more on feeling what you want to have, in a simple, easy way.  This will also help you tremendously in your journey to health and total self-transformation.

NOTE: These are not to do lists.  They are ‘feeling intentions’ for your day, night or task ahead.

Steps to positive intention setting:

  • Set one intention for the day only. Pick one intention as soon as you wake up – still lying in bed. Close your eyes:
    • For instance: “Today, I will stay calm under all circumstances.”
    • See yourself in any circumstance (relationship, work, kids, commute, shop etc), feeling calm, breathing deeply, a smile on your face.
    • Other examples of intentions: “today I will learn one important thing for my health”, “ Today I will teach someone something that I know for sure”, “Today, I will do one kind act towards a stranger” – “today I will do one self-care action towards me” “ Today I will say ‘no’ more” etc..
  • Set a reminder/alert on your phone, to remind you of your intention of the day – to help you refocus and stay on track.
  • Set an intention before you start a task at work, home, in your healing journey:
    • For instance: “this meal I am cooking will taste amazing” – focus for a few seconds and see yourself creating a colourful, healthy, life-giving and delicious meal, imagine the taste, texture, feel of what you’re eating and hear the words others might give you to praise the meal.
  • At night, set an intention for the night. You can write it down in your journal or just close your eyes before sleep and say to yourself what you want.
    • For instance: “I will sleep through and wake up refreshed in the morning”. Or you might want to ask a question to get the answer in the night.

The Benefits:

The benefits will vary from person to person, but here is what my clients (and myself) report:

  • More focus in the day on what you want, rather than what you don’t.
  • Less overwhelm and feeling like you’re slipping down a slope of stress
  • less stress and anxiety brought about by a greater sense of control over your life
  • less fear and anticipation of doom and gloom.
  • Greater instances of manifesting what you want – especially manifesting more calm and self-control and ease
  • Fewer gut and other symptoms – generally better health.

The list could be far longer but try it for yourself.  Consistency is key, so don’t give up!
